Elevo Institute
The Elevo Institute is a nonprofit organisation, established through a bequest, committed to advancing education in Australia for the benefit of all students and the Australian community as a whole.
We are guided by a Board and supported by Advisory Committees. Our work is built on collaboration with thought leaders, universities, schools, governments, corporates, and development partners.
Our Purpose
Our purpose is to ensure no student is failed by the education system and that every student is set up for success in a fast-changing world.
Our Vision
Our vision is a student-centred education system that engages students, turning them into life-long learners with an explorer mindset, ready to thrive in a fast-changing world.
Our Mission
To establish the evidence needed to provoke informed discussion about the need for transformational change in school education in Years Seven to Nine in our secondary schools.
Why It Matters
Education shapes societies. When it fails, the cost is borne by us all.
Our Values
- Equity first
- Truth through evidence
- Clarity in complexity
- Future focused
- Collaboration that counts
Our Approach
Elevo Institute uses independent research to examine current school practices and engage the community in reimagining the future of education.
We view learning as three interconnected dimensions:
- Cognitive – motivation, resilience, persistence
- Behavioural – active participation, attendance
- Emotional – relationships with learning and connection to school communities
We believe the solution to student engagement, needs to include teachers, students, schools, parents and community
Current Research Focus
Reclaiming the Lost Years
In 2025 and 2026, Elevo Institute is leading research into how Australia can reclaim the critical middle years of schooling—Years 7 to 9—where student motivation and engagement too often decline.
