Community Involvement

At the Elevo Institute, community voices are central to our work. Education is not just shaped by schools—it is the product of collaboration between researchers, educators, students, parents, and society at large. To ensure our research is rigorous, relevant, and grounded in reality, the Elevo Institute has created several avenues for community involvement.

Advisory Boards

Research Advisory Board

Provides expert academic guidance to ensure the rigor, ethical soundness, and strategic direction of our research into student engagement in Years 7–9.

Schools Advisory Board

Drawn from principals, school leaders, and union representatives, this Board ensures our research remains practical and applicable within schools. Their insights help test the real-world feasibility of ideas and innovations.

Education Reform Round Table

Alongside the Advisory Boards, Elevo is establishing an Education Reform Round Table. Its purpose is to foster inclusive dialogue, build consensus, and inspire innovation to improve student engagement in the middle years of schooling.

Modelled on the government’s Economic Reform Round Table (2025), this forum will bring together a diverse group of voices—researchers, teachers, school leaders, students, parents/carers, and education experts—to examine critical questions, including:

  • What do we know about the nature of disengagement in contemporary schools, particularly in the middle years?
  • Which approaches make a measurable difference to engagement levels, and how do we know?
  • What further research is required, and what types of studies are most valuable?
  • What kinds of teaching practices best support student engagement?
  • What resources are needed to make meaningful change?

The Reform Round Table will serve as a platform to bridge research and practice, ensuring the solutions we pursue are shaped not only by evidence, but also by the experiences of those most affected.
